Research Summary

My research examines how AI and emerging technologies, such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and game-based learning, can be used individually and in combination to strengthen STEM and biology education. I also study teacher preparation and professional development, particularly competency-based approaches that prepare teachers to integrate technology and AI into their practice and to teach effectively in online and blended settings. Beyond the classroom, my work addresses lifelong science learning and scientific literacy, with an emphasis on socio-scientific reasoning. In addition, I explore how systems thinking can inform efforts to build STEM capacity and support workforce development. More recently, I have become interested in using learning analytics to better understand how learners reason and collaborate within technology-supported learning environments.
