Research Summary
Dr. Hilary E. Hughes is an associate professor in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice at the University of Georgia. Her research interests include critical, feminist-oriented teacher education and middle grades education, troubling methodological practices in qualitative inquiry and doctoral education, and more recent research on how teachers’ spatial proficiency contributes to young adolescents’ well-being and learning. Dr. Hughes has published in journals such as Middle School Journal, Middle Grades Review, Research in Middle Level Education, Qualitative Inquiry, Journal of Teacher Education, Harvard Educational Review, International Review of Qualitative Research, and International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education. She regularly presents her research at the Association of Middle Level Educators Conference, annual meetings of American Education Research Association, and International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry.
