Research Summary

My research, teaching, and service are dedicated to advancing digital and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) literacy and racial equity for Black families and Black/Latina youth. My critical work charts new territories at the intersection of family literacy, multimodality, and digital and STEAM practices in these communities. Specifically, my research agenda includes two overlapping concerns: how a) Black families and youth cultivate digital and STEAM-related practices as activists, creators, and empowered learners; and b) how these practices serve as pathways for advancing racial equity, liberation, and social transformation for Black families and youth.
